To that end, thinkLaw seeks a Director of Digital Storytelling to promote stories that drive engagement, promote partnerships, and activate current and future supporters, thereby further igniting the movement of thinkLaw where this mission becomes reality.
thinkLaw exists to create a world where critical thinking is no longer a luxury good. We help educators teach critical thinking to all students, not just the highest achieving ones at the most exclusive schools. Rote memorization and spoon-fed learning will not prepare young people for the rapidly changing workforce that awaits them. This is why thinkLaw increases educational equity by giving all students access to critical thinking. We do this through our award-winning curriculum that uses real-life legal cases in upper grades and fairy tales and nursery rhymes in lower grades as a hook to unleash the critical thinking potential of all students and powerful professional development that helps educators apply rigorous inquiry strategies that help them transform from asking “what” and “how to” to “why” and “what if.”
thinkLaw has partnered with over 500 school systems and organizations in 40 states in since launching in June 2015 and has thousands of opportunities for new partnerships due to our tremendous exposure through national and regional education conferences, social media and email marketing efforts, district-wide approvals in hundreds of schools districts, and the success of our founder’s books, Thinking Like a Lawyer: A Framework for Teaching Critical Thinking to All Students and Tangible Equity: A Guide to Leveraging Student Identity, Culture, and Power to Unlock Excellence In and Beyond the Classroom.
At thinkLaw, the Director of Digital Storytelling will use platforms to allow visitors to experience thinkLaw in the same way as if they had a front row seat to a professional development session or a thinkLaw classroom. Success will require you to bring a passion for thinkLaw’s work, the knowledge of how content strategy can mold a user’s relationship with the brand, and the ability to utilize digital resources and channels to catalyze the excitement of the movement. Due to your success as the Director of Digital Storytelling, you will help thinkLaw tell the story of critical thinking as equity and continue to interrupt inequities in education across the country at an even higher level.
As the Director of Digital Storytelling, you will:
Engage and Excite
- Develop and implement the organization’s social media strategy, including marketing plans that leverage social media outlets to achieve goals.
- Monitor, post to, and analyze social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) to build a highly engaged community of followers.
- Utilize images in real time from training sessions, conferences, and other events to tell compelling stories that keep our audience attached to the work thinkLaw is leading around the country.
- Establish and maintain relationships with bloggers, podcast hosts, and other members of the online community.
Create and Curate
- Analyze data to drive decisions and engagement.
- Identify new content types and delivery mechanisms to exponentially increase our audience reach.
- Coordinate, fine tune, and resurface an incredible suite of content (blog posts, graphics, podcasts, testimonials, webinars, articles) to attract attention, support strong engagement, and ensure that potential partners and customers become satisfied users.
Collaborate and Communicate
- Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations on emerging trends and user adoption strategies.
- Collaborate with all internal teams – particularly the directors of digital marketing, sales, partner success, and operations – to drive engagement, partner acquisition, and overall communication strategy.

Knowledge and Expertise
The Director of Digital Storytelling will have a/n:
- Deep understanding of how Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) issues impact classrooms across the country and how thinkLaw equips teachers, leaders, students, and families with practical tools to make equity a reality.
- Strong sense of empathy for the realities of classroom educators, school leaders, and school system leaders.
- Exceptional strengths as a communicator, writer, editor, and presenter, who is thoughtful, creative, and strategic about the creation of content.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in social media platforms, including management tools, analytics, and reporting.
- Expertise with determining KPIs/success metrics against site destinations, individualized web experiences, user journeys, content funnels and cycles, audience segmentation, web page objectives and UX (user experience design) based on content intent.
- Ability to synthesize information from a/n article, lesson, or event and make timely and deeply relevant connections to the mission and vision of thinkLaw in a social media platform-specific way, catalyzing the message and movement.
- Expertise with developing, managing, and optimizing communications across multiple channels including search, display advertising, website, and email.
- Strong sense of discernment; curates with purpose and with an acknowledgement of when an idea is out of scope.
Education and Experience
The Director of Digital Storytelling will have education and experience in the following areas:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience in related positions required.
- Digital marketing (specifically social media storytelling) experience for K-12 education or closely related field.
- Demonstrated capacity to execute campaigns and leverage dynamic, tailored content to drive engagement, activation, and membership via web, social, and email.
- Additional experience, preferred:
- A degree in journalism
- Experience in navigating various channels and social media management systems that help brand communication reach a national level.
- Experience teaching or working with students in K-12 public Title I schools.
- Collaboration with key stakeholders (senior/executive administrators) and decision-makers in K-12 education.
- Autonomy and independence within a flexible work environment (work-from-home) and family-friendly business practices.
- Salary: $72,000 annually with an opportunity for organization and individual performance-based bonuses.
